This powdered activated carbon is made from high-quality wood activated with phosphoric acid. The powdered product can be added to the stock solution, suspended for a period of time (contact time or residence time), and then filtered using standard techniques. This mode of operation also allows activated carbon to be mixed with other materials such as fuller's earth (commonly used in cooking oil treatment).
Because activated carbon can achieve equilibrium capacity, the same material can be used at both low-load and high-load adsorption sites in the treatment system. This counterflow technology is highly cost-effective and optimizes PAC use.
This range of powdered activated carbon can be used to purify and treat various forms of sweeteners, including sucrose, glucose and fructose syrups. They can also be used to remove pigments and other unwanted by-products.
